I agree wholeheartedly with Rev Will about the pre-amp. However, the Basik set can be had for under £100, and (as opposed to a permanent install) can be used on as many ukes as I like, so it works out quite cheap if you want to amplify several instruments. Granted some of those Schertlers are very expensive.
